CFP Exam Achieves Highest Pass Rate in 8 Years

In July, the CFP Certification Exam was taken by 2,926 candidates, and nearly seven in ten of them passed. According to CFP Board statistics, this 67% pass rate marked the highest achievement since July 2015, when it was at 70 percent. Despite updates to the exam blueprint in March 2016 and March 2022, this success rate remains noteworthy.

The exam takers were primarily concentrated in ten states: California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Colorado, Ohio, and Massachusetts. However, specific pass rates for those states are not provided in the report, as reported by InvestmentNews

When questioned about their motivation for obtaining CFP Certification, 41% of candidates indicated that they aimed to showcase their job experience, while 25% sought to distinguish themselves as fiduciaries.
