CFP Board Launches Campaign to Address Financial Planner Shortage and Workforce Development

September 25th, 2024, 11:00 AM

The CFP Board has launched a new digital ad campaign, "Quite Possibly the Perfect Job", aimed at encouraging young people to consider careers as CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) professionals. This initiative seeks to raise awareness about financial planning as a fulfilling and well-compensated career while addressing the industry's growing need for competent and ethical professionals.

The CFP Board has taken a two-pronged approach to address the talent gap: raising awareness of financial planning among college and high school students, and providing the resources necessary for those interested in pursuing CFP® certification. The campaign features humorous "fantasy" jobs like "Professional Daydreamer" and "ChieSelf-Care Officer" to engage students while highlighting the tangible benefits of a CFP® career, such as competitive salaries and strong work-life balance. These benefits are supported by the CFP Board's 2024 Compensation Study.

This campaign was made possible by CFP Board's 2023 restructuring, which led to the creation of a new 501(c)(6) nonprofit professional organization. This restructuring allows the CFP Board to focus more effectively on workforce development issues. In addition to the digital campaign, the CFP Board is investing in scholarships and career fairs as part of its broader workforce development strategy.
